Life Happens...7.27.24

I always know when I've bitten off more than I can chew. Sometimes that seems like, "What a great problem to have.". While I enjoy being busy and an abundance of dance class, it can also lead to being overwhelmed. Sometimes that can transition to burnout. For me this manifests via confusion. I get dates and times mixed up, I start forgetting things. I start making little mistakes here and there. When I notice those things happening, its a sure sign that I need to take a look inward and possibly even a step back.

Now I'm not saying to make excuses. But things happen. Life happens. We get busy. We have to start making decisions about our schedule and what we want to commit to, and what is too much. For me that involves purposefully adding down time into my busy schedule and forcing myself to take those much needed breaks. I've also learned that we can get very comfortable during those breaks. Finding balance and remaining committed to your art form takes just as much training and discipline as it does to keep practicing your technique, right? In dance when we look to find our balance, we have to focus internally, remaining strong, but also release fears, and go with the momentum. Just as in dance, so is our life. As stress and challenges come our way, look inward, focus, engage your strength and then go for it. Sometimes we fall. Then what? We prepare and try again.

Don't stop dancing. If you need to miss a class or two, we can always reschedule. Or perhaps try a new genre. Trying new forms of dance can be reinvigorating. Even if you take time off, don't forget to come back. Making the time to return to your training seems daunting, but once you settle back in, you may notice how good it feels to be dancing again. Life happens. Keep dancing.

Hope to see you soon. Check out our August group classes to try something new....
